AAMCO Repairs Vermont Veteran’s Car as Part of “50 Cars in 50 States” Program

Justin E. Laramie is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran from North Chittenden, Vt. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and earned a Purple Heart for serious injuries suffered in 2005. Mr. Laramie relies on his 1987 Jeep Wrangler to get to work, but the failing condition of the vehicle and his tight financial situation have made it difficult for him to get around. The MOPH Region One and Department of Vermont commanders nominated Mr. Laramie to participate in AAMCO’s program.
“I never imagined in my life that I would have such amazing people, like the people at AAMCO, take a total stranger like me and offer such an amazing gift,” said Justin Laramie. “I would have never been able to do this without them. Thank you, AAMCO!”
“Mr. Laramie and all of our veterans have given so much to this country,” said Leslie Deutsch, AAMCO of South Burlington owner. “It’s a privilege to be able to give back to them through AAMCO’s 50 Cars in 50 States program. Our AAMCO team enjoyed working on Mr. Laramie’s Jeep and everyone showed great enthusiasm for the project. We wish him all the best and hope he accepts this special thanks for his brave service.”
Mr. Laramie picked up his newly repaired Jeep on July 31 from the AAMCO of South Burlington service center, at 9 Green Mountain Road, where the services were provided free of charge. After AAMCO towed Mr. Laramie’s car into the shop, technicians conducted a thorough diagnostic inspection to determine all repairs needed. Ultimately, they installed a new carburetor, battery, suspension, exhaust and engine accessories, and replaced all of the front and rear brake components, among other repairs. Portland Glass donated and installed a new windshield for the vehicle at no cost. The AAMCO center Manager, Nick Martel, donated his personal time in the evenings to apply rubberized paint to the Jeep so that it will look good and run well for many years to come.
